So now, even eBay is against me...

Current Mood : Miffed

Currently ‘enjoying' a small ice storm - it'll continue through tomorrow and be gone by Wednesday, but it's not that bad right now. The ice looks so pretty in the late afternoon sun...

For kicks today, I scanned a page from a Mattel-issued repro art book. I used to love to look at the Ad Builder books at the newspaper office when I was a kid. There was an endless array of images for everything ! Any ad or announcement ever created, there was an image perfect for it in one of those big books. So, when I saw a repro art book from Mattel on eBay, going for just a buck and shipping, dated 1984, I just had to have it. And I won ! Seventy-four pages of line art for Barbie, Poochie, Masters of the Universe, and Hot Wheels toys - just looking at it made me happy. And a bit buzzed on the remembered smell of ink and rubber cement and other chemicals. I had big plans for it on my website... then we moved. Twice. And I forgot, so it didn't take long for it to be just another no-name-on-the-spine book on the shelves.

Went digging for it yesterday, and decided to share the ‘Personal Appearance' layout with In The Pink and you. It's really cool, I think. The one up there is a small version - the original size is huge ! Over 1.5Mb. But if you'd like your own copy of the original scale, you can find it here - https://dorriebelle.tripod.com/dolls_of_my_life/reproart.jpg . Usual things, same as before, left click to bring it up full-sized, right to save.

With the weather that skiddy - numerous accidents this morning - once Beloved Hubby was home, he stayed home. Watched a few episodes of Wonderfalls and the last of his A-Team. And watched the auctions I bid on. (sigh) I should have known...

I won the small one, lost the big. That's fine. What's making me sigh, and think I didn't win at all and should just save my money and wait for yard sale season and start wearing shirts with ‘*&^% eBay' on ‘em is the fact that the auction page had ‘Free Shipping' splashed all over it. So did all their doll-based auctions - free Parcel Post shipping. So, when I got the invoice and saw I'd been charged for it anyway, I wrote a very nice note reminding the seller what the auction page said, and that I was aware of the $2. handling fee (*&^%), so I would like a corrected invoice with the right total, please.

Of course, there's been no response. And it's been three hours since I wrote, five since the auction closed. I have a feeling they've received several notes like mine, so I tried to be nice, but I'm starting to feel ripped off and led on. (sigh) You'd think they'd check their auctions, or shut down the remaining ones as soon as the first complaint came through, but there are still several ongoing auctions, all with the same ‘Free Shipping' on ‘em. I'm starting to think no one wants my money, as hard as it is for me to spend it this week...

I mean, shoot, by the time PayPal credits my account with the cash I transferred Friday (for some reason, it takes four or five business days), I won't have much need of it, and I'll want to transfer it back to Checking ! It's crap like this that makes people leery of eBay, but they don't seem to care about it, and the sellers just keep being jerks. Not all sellers. But I've been ripped off twice, and this may be #3, and even I learn after a while.

Name: "Michelle"

Sorry that is seems you are having a down day Dorrie.  I hope the seller has cleared up the shipping.  If anything, if they don't then it wasn't meant to be and something better is coming along.  Hope you and the family are staying warm from the ice storm.  Smile
