Current Mood : The good kind of tired...
Current Image Notes : The Advair Chair !
While I didn't sew today - I wanted to rest my fingers a bit - it was still a busy day. For some reason, I got it into my head to clean up the Lab, and I mean really clean it, and when those rare moods strike, it's best to go with ‘em.
Started with something I've put off for quite some time. I was saving one Lab wall for Art, but decided I wanted space more than pretty pictures I could hang anywhere. So, the most recent cases went up today. The Little Mermaid suitcase, the pink Fashion Fever case, the purchased-Friday tote bag, and the ‘Fashion Mall' one I got from a yard sale are now off the floor and on display. Much better. I initially didn't have enough hooks, so I removed the ones from our bedroom walls, something else I've been meaning to do. They used to support wires for our computer, back when it was in the closet and the DILs were in the Office. I thank the Deity of Your Choice that everyone's in their own space again, and pray it remains that way.
In order to do that, though, I had to move a bunch of stuff that had collected in front of The Slab, and while I was finally getting all that put away, figured I'd best get the stuff Joanne sent me stored, too. Whew. Even used the box Joanne used to mail the goodies to store some of ‘em. Most of the dolls are scattered around, but they're safe and happy where they are, so it's all good.
That done, I put fabric away, and cleared the cutting table of tote bag/purse scraps - in case inspiration strikes again, I wanna be ready ! Designated another newly emptied box as the ‘current projects' receptacle, and stuffed junk in progress in there. Yup. It's nearly full already.
After that, I was ready for another little ‘been meaning to' job. Shortly after we first moved to this house, I hit a yard sale at the high school down the street. Not much, but I found a great frame that had twelve plastic ‘bubbles' protruding through a brushed stainless holder. It's hard to describe, but it was designed to display small hobby-type things and miniatures. All on its own, it was striking and unique, and I thought it'd look great in Beloved Hubby's new office.
Well, he never touched it, and the cats pushed three bubbles in somehow. I popped ‘em back out, and put it aside, lamenting the wasted $2. a bit. Decided that I'd use it instead. Sometime, in the near future, I'd load it with all the solo Barbie and Ken shoes taking up space in a specialty box. Today became sometime. Emptied the big box of singles and nearly filled the frame, except for too-tall boots. But those were small enough for a much smaller case I hadn't found a use for, all right ! The bubbled Barbie solo shoes are now hanging over my nightstand, and it's easy to access them if I think I have a match, or need to add more. And I freed up a box Beloved can possibly use, and got a smaller box off the floor. All good.
Now, the Lab has actual floor space, not a narrow one-person walkway. It actually looks as though four or maybe five people could be in there at once, if they didn't move around a lot. I am pleased - but if I buy just one more Barbie house prop, I want someone to hit me as hard as they can. I don't have any more space ! None. Not one bit ! I should never attend another yard sale, flea market, thrift store, junk shop, or doll aisle again !
<snort> Yeah, right ! I'm still thinking of the Barbie aisle over at Mal-Wart Friday... and I wonder if the local thrift has noticed I haven't been around the last two Mondays.
Anyway. The new purse is still great, and it has much more space than the last one. So I loaded it up ! Grabbed a pencil case I got at a yard sale last year, and the Winx one I got from Dollar Tree - they now hold pens and health/beauty stuff, respectively. I finally have a safe place for my inhaler. Excellent.
And speaking of inhalers, I found the Advair Diskus inhaler shells once more. I got tired of moving them around, and went ahead and made the Advair Chair. Took photos, even though it was dirt-simple, and made a web page on the main site. Still haven't decided how best to do the doll crafts - should I leave them on Somewhere That's Green or move ‘em to Crafty ! - but I'm thinking of leaving them on Green and having photo links to their pages on Crafty!. Seems to be the simplest, best way I can think of. Any ideas ?
Well, for now, my best idea is bedtime. It's been a busy day !
