Dorrie's Doll Diaries
Monday, 12 January 2009
Money talks.

Current Mood : Steadily improving and hopeful.

Current Image Notes : I got this in change at Mal-Wart. You are beautiful, you know.

Actually got to sew a bit today ! Futzed around with the wristlet key fob, and I figured it out. I may need three yards of webbing ( about $2.) and some D-rings, but that's pretty much it for next Christmas' school gifts. Hope to get the directions written up and posted either Wednesday or Thursday.

From there, I fixed the denim ‘Bear Stuffers' shirt I got in the thrift store bag with Tippee Toes. It needed a new side seam, so I took it in a bit so it fit the Little Disney Princesses and PDorrie, and didn't billow as much. In essence, I made it a square instead of a triangle. Also removed the bow from the back to the side. I thought it was cuter that way.

Also fixed the golf outfit I claimed from a yard sale bear for the LDPs. The Velcro tore when I took it off one of the Auroras. I may also have to tack down the collar on the underside, it keeps popping up. Right now, it's pinned, and I'll iron it tomorrow, see if that works. Also got the two other shirts from the Tippee Toes bag washed and dried along with the issue clothes my partially ‘Beast'-dressed Beach Glam Ken was wearing when I got last week. All the stains came out, on all of them. Whoo-hoo !

Finished up with the lace relocation - and found a little surprise. I bagged up some seam binding lace that had been wrapped around a cool old pattern leaflet from McCalls. It features designs by Nolan Miller for Linda Evans and Joan Collins, and some patterns from Mariette Hartley. A bit of research shows those particular pieces were out in 1984. Twenty five years ago. I'll have to scan it, for kicks. It may be a while before we see lapels and belts like that again !

Got the grocery and birthday party shopping done. Dearest Son's gift may be here as early as tomorrow, so I'm glad we got everything we need for it. Believe this or not, I've been worried for the last few days that I'd order his cake, but get told that they don't have the Wall-E one anymore. Of all the things for me to worry about, it's his birthday cake !

Not much else going on. I wanna get the wristlet directions written up, and I have another project in the wings... while there's not a lot going on, there's sure a lot to do !

That's a nice note to find in your change, You have to wonder who wrote on the dollar note, and who they wrote the message to?

That would be a good way to advertise like a blog or something.  Write it on a bill.  LOL!  But that was a sweet note to find on your change.  And an early Happy Birthday to your son.  It was my mom's birthday on Jan. 5th.  I think January birthday people have it so lucky.  They just had Christmas and now they get birthday presents.  LOL!  And I know he will LOVE the printer and whatever cake ends up on the table.  :-)
