Current Mood : Slow recovery...again !
Well, here's hoping I can keep this going for more than two days in a row this time ! I slept through most of the night, but woke early, so now I'm a bit sleepy. I'm still weak - all that ‘racing' means you crash hard when the crisis is over, it's as true for asthma as anything else - but I'm taking up my usual tasks again, if a bit slowly. Beloved Hubby had to do the grocery shopping yesterday, and he stocked us well. I'm literally out of space for snacks ! And the freezer's full. He knows it'll be a while before I'm back to normal eating (he's been here before !), so he wanted me to have some temptations ready to go. He even brought me a sleeve of multi-colored striped carnations, and I can smell them now ! Everyone says carnations don't have a scent, but I always detect one - sort of a leafy green peppermint, with some dirt mixed in.
Beloved was local today, so I didn't get much done. He's worried about a lot of things, and while I can't change many of ‘em, maybe I help a bit by listening. It's always a treat to have him home for a hot lunch, even if it is microwave burritos.
I'm nearly finished with the dress I made last Wednesday, and what a trial that was. I'll probably save the story for the photo I still have to take, but for now, take a look at the ‘bell dress' shown in today's image. Today, it's more often called a ‘Belle' dress by vintage collectors, but it's the same garment. That's what I was supposed to be cloning with the Aileen's Petite Fashions pattern. Mine is...nice, but not much like that. At least I got to use some of the fabric from the torn-up bear on it ! Yup, the stuffed bear I bought several weeks ago from GoodWill for its neat fabric - and spent several days' worth of bus-waiting time taking apart - makes its first appearance tomorrow.
Got some dishes done, drank more water than soda - always a rarity for me ! - and stepped over kittens. They've moved from my closet to the bathroom, which makes things a bit harried sometimes ! They love to climb and explore...especially bare legs at 2am ! They'll even venture into the Lab when the mood strikes. Tomorrow, they'll be a month old. So we've started then on kitten chow with water, but I really have to keep an eye on Miz Velvet, or she'll eat it all...right after pounding down half a can of 9-Lives and most of a bowl of her own chow ! She's not really hungry still - that's as much as she's ever eaten - but that kitten kibble must be irresistible. Dearest Son's getting better at handling them and being careful, but we still have to keep an eye open when they're in the same room together.
Oh, and I ‘won' some 70s Barbie catalogs...actually three of the same one ! Yet each one is slightly different. These are the ones that have the gold/silver swimsuit Living Barbie on the covers. You know I'll scan and share those, don'cha ? (grin) I never had that Barbie - Malibu was my first - but I remember seeing the catalog at my slightly older cousins' home. Odd, though, that I don't remember ever playing Barbie with them, or seeing their dolls. Well, I was pretty private with my play...
Well, this week is the last week of school for Dearest Son - he has a week off before Summer School, so I know there's a lot of Star Wars, Indiana Jones and the Wii in my near future ! After I take some photos of last week's dress and whine about it, maybe I'll get to sew. Thinking the Bell(e) dress might be less than advertised, I printed another of the APFs, and this one's total crap, then I'll know for sure.
