Dorrie's Doll Diaries

life going on...
Now Playing: "Star Wars Episode 3 : Revenge of the Sith" (or is that 'sick'...)

Current Mood : a bit worried, a bit weird

Dearest Son's home sick today - sore throat and headache - so not much got done today, either. So I gave some thought to what to do with all of Friday's dolls that I want to keep - which is roughly about half. And I spent some quality time with my seam ripper and a home-made stuffed bear I bought for his fabric.

The sewing on the bear is kind of odd. There's quite a few indications of a sewist who knows what he/she's doing - trimmed ends, backstitching at both ends of a seam, even stitching and good proportions. But there's just as many things that indicate a lack of skill or maybe just caring - notches that are inches from matching, stuff that's pushed together hurriedly leaving puckers and pleats where it should be smooth, and raw, fraying edges. Even the stuffing shifts a lot, and seems inadequate for the bear's size. Normally I feel bad about buying something to take apart, even when it's ‘stuff a bag for a buck' people clothes. I won't go near a rack of that until just before I check out, in case someone else can use it as-is. But in this case, I almost feel justified. I don't think it was happy being a bear.

Got everything cheap-serged and washed, now I just need to make something ! And hope that Dearest feels better tomorrow.
